Satellite imagery shows black smoke caused by large fires that broke out on board a tanker and cargo ship, which collided in the North Sea near the Humber on Monday morning.
The vessels involved are the US-registered MV Stena Immaculate and thePortugal-flagged container ship, MV Solong.
According to Marinetraffic.com, the Solong had been due to travel to Rotterdam in the Netherlands after departing from the port of Grangemouth in Scotland.
More than 30 casualties have been reported in the incident.
The American Maritime Officers stated that the tanker involved in the crash was part of a programme to have ten ships capable of transporting oil for the US army in "times of need".
Visibility in the area was poor at the time.
