Past week driest in North Midlands and wettest in southwest

The north Midlands was the driest spot in Ireland during the past week with less than 2mm of rainfall recorded there.

1.9mm was recorded at Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan, which is just 10% of the average rainfall total for the time of year.

While rainfall was below average nationwide, it was wettest in the west and southwest.

According to Met Éireann, a total accumulation of 12.8mm was recorded at Valentia in County Kerry, which is 44% of its average total.

The coming week will bring spells of sunshine for all locations but scattered light showers will affect some locations on Wednesday and Thursday.

Precipitation totals will range from 5mm to 10mm over the next week.
