Met Éireann says last month was the 16th warmest February since 1900 with temperatures finishing 1 °C above the Long-Term Average (LTA).
The average national temperature for February 2025 was 7.02 °C.
The warmest February on record occurred in 1998. The average temperature then was 8.5°C.
In its Climate Statement for February 2025, Met Éireann says the north of Ireland was drier than southern counties.
The month’s wettest day was recorded at Cork Airport, which recorded its 7th wettest February on record, with 36.6 mm on Sunday 23rd.
Percentage of monthly rainfall values ranged from 66% (63.2 mm) at Malin Head in County Donegal to 220% (213.4 mm) at Cork Airport.
The month’s highest temperature was reported at Moore Park in County Cork on Thursday 20th with a temperature of 14.8 °C.
The month’s lowest air temperature was recorded at Mount Dillon in Roscommon on Thursday 6th with -5.2 °C.
The month’s highest gust was reported at Valentia Observatory in Kerry on Thursday 20th with 59 knots (109 km/h).
