Cold front brings cloudier conditions to northern counties

Morning cloud across the south is slowly starting to burn off with sunny spells across most of Ireland.

Top temperatures are down on yesterday but remain well above average for the time of year.

At 1pm, it was 14.8c at Mace Head in Galway compared to 7.6 at Ballypatrick in Antrim where a cold front introducing Polar Maritime air  is pushing south.

Consequently, it remains largely overcast in northern coastal counties.

Temperatures are already subzero in the Scottish Highlands.
