Brilliant sunshine makes a welcome return

Sunday has been marked by blue skies and sunshine across Ireland.

There is hazy sunshine across southern counties as morning cloud continues to burn off.

It's currently 16.7c at Mace Head, which is the warmest temperature recorded in the Republic of Ireland so far this year. Castlederg, County Tyrone recorded 17.1c on Saturday.

It is cooler in east Leinster and Ulster due to a northeasterly wind.

High pressure building close to Ireland will lead to largely settled conditions for Ireland in the coming week, with the exception of showers moving off the Irish Sea into parts of east Ulster, and eastern and southern counties of Leinster.
