An all-female Irish crew of 14 is set to brave minus 20c temperatures and frozen conditions during their trek across the Arctic Circle.
The group leaves Dublin for Kilpisjärvi, Northern Finland this Thursday for an expedition aimed at raising awareness about cardiovascular disease in ad of the Irish Heart Foundation.
The IHF says one in four women in Ireland dies from heart disease and stroke – six times the number who die from breast cancer.
The group’s pulk hauling trek will see them travel more than 350 kilometres north of the Arctic Circle.
