Wet start to week in west and south but drier on east coast



Rainfall totals over the next 24 hours will exceed 30mm in southern coastal counties of Ireland, where a Status Yellow rainfall warning is in effect. 

Scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle across the western half of Ireland during Monday, but remaining largely dry further east until this evening.

Dublin could see just trace amounts (<1mm) during the period, according to the latest Harmonie model (below). 


It will feel cold in a gusty southeast wind. Highs during Monday of 5c to 12c, coldest in the northeast and mildest in the southwest.

Outbreaks of heavy rain will persist into Tuesday morning with spot flooding likely. Top temperatures during the day of 8c to 12c. 

Rainfall Alert issued

Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow Rain warning for Cork, Kerry and Waterford valid from 9am Monday to 6am Tuesday.

It is warning of spells of heavy rain, spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions.

A Small Craft warning also is in effect for all coasts of Ireland.
