Clearer weather pushed into western counties on Friday morning as the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite passed over Ireland.
Satellite images captured shortly after 11.00am show sunshine breaking through in parts of West Clare (Kilkee), Galway (Aran Islands and Roundstone) and Kerry (Portmagee and Ballinskelligs).
The Copernicus Sentinel-2 mission is based on a constellation of two identical satellites in the same orbit. Each satellite carries an innovative wide swath high-resolution multispectral imager with 13 spectral bands for a new perspective of our land and vegetation.
Apart from some well scattered showers in the west and northwest Saturday afternoon, the day will be largely dry with good spells of sunshine everywhere.
Wet and windy weather will sweep through the country during Sunday. Status Yellow rain and wind warnings are in place for 18 counties.
