The Gulf Stream's source is renamed on Google Maps

Google has added 'Gulf of America' to its mapping service. The Gulf Stream, which gives Ireland its temperate climate, now originates in the Gulf of Mexico (Gulf of America).

The decision by Google follows an executive order from US President Donald Trump.

The names used in Google Maps are provided by the Geographic Names Information System, which is under the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
