Sports fixtures hit by strong winds

Sunday's strong winds and heavy rain have forced the postponement of a number of sporting fixtures across Ireland.

The Division 3 football derby clash of Wexford and Wicklow and the Division 3 tie between Sligo and Clare have both been postponed.

Meanwhile, the Division 1 clash between Tyrone and Kerry has been moved from O’Neill’s Healy Park to Pomeroy.

Heavy rain and strong winds are set to hit Ireland from early on Sunday through the early hours of Monday morning.

Wind gusts could exceed 110 km/h in Atlantic coastal counties, with up to one inch of rainfall expected to fall in the west and southwest.

It will be drier in northeast Ulster.
