Rainfall totals three times above February average in Cork


The past week has been wetter than average across much of Ireland. Rainfall totals (79.2mm) at Cork Airport were three times above the average for the time of year.

The station has now recorded 168.4mm for the month to date, which is well above its February Long Term Average (LTA) of 97.2mm.

Cork Airport also recorded the least amount of sunshine nationwide with just 4.9 hours of sunshine (27% of normal). Belmullet in County Mayo recorded the most sunshine with 14.2 hours, which is 83% of normal values.

Dublin Airport has recorded only 37.3mm for the month to date, which is just over 70% of its monthly LTA of 52.4mm.

Temperatures are running about 1 to 1.5c above average for the month.
