Weather conditions on this day down through Irish history.

1963: The front page of The Irish Times reports on towns and villages across Northern Ireland being cut-off due to heavy snowfall in the preceding two days.

1978: Transatlantic flights to Ireland are cancelled as severe snowstorms hit the US northeast.
1990: Severe flooding along the River Suir continues. Clonmel and Ardfinnan in County Tipperary are particularly badly affected.
2014: The centre of a violent Atlantic storm moves over Clew Bay in County Mayo. This storm becomes known for the lengthy duration of strong winds. It also leads to four deaths in Ireland the following day.
2019: Storm Erik approached from the Atlantic and tracked northwest of Ireland, leading to very strong winds with two distinct periods of high winds - one in the morning and another in the evening into the next morning. It resulted in 1,700 homes losing power, high seas, and coastal flooding. Gusts of 120km/h were recorded at Mace Head in Connemara.
