On This Day (February 10th) in Irish Weather History

Weather conditions on this day down through Irish history.

1906: Heavy snowfall is reported across much of Ireland as prolonged, heavy snow showers are carried in strong gale force north westerly winds. Further snowfall follows over the next two days. 

1930: Ireland enters the second week of a cold spell that lasts into the second half of the month. 

1963: A two-day lull in the Big Freeze of winter 1963-63 comes to an end as a ridge of high pressure intensifies over Scandinavia and draws a strong, cold easterly wind across Ireland.

1988: Local authorities and the ESB get to work across Ireland following a severe storm that brought 10-minute winds of 60 knots (Violent Storm Force 11).

2020: More than 3,000 homes and businesses remain affected by power outages after Storm Ciara tracks to the north of Ireland.  The N80 through Portlaoise in County Laois is impassible due to flooding.
