Weather conditions on this day down through Irish history.

1947: Freezing conditions persist in the notorious "Big Snow" winter.

1978: Heavy rainfall leads to significant flooding in Cork and Waterford.

1990: Rising floodwaters from heavy rainfall causes concern in south Galway, while snowfall leads to a race meeting at Punchestown being abandoned. 

2010: Freezing conditions bring snowfall to the northern half of Ireland.

2018: Met Éireann issues a red weather warning for all of Munster and Leinster as the "Beast from the East" weather event arrives. The severe cold snap brings heavy snowfall and strong winds, leading to widespread disruption across the country.
