The New Moon will occur at 12:44 am on Friday morning.
The Full Moon in March is the Worm Moon, which is believed to have originated with the appearance of earthworms in spring, but further research suggests the name refers to beetle larvae, which worm their way from the thawing bark of trees at this time.
The Worm Moon falls at 2:55 a.m. on Friday, March 14th.
In 2025, Ireland will enjoy 12 full moons, including three supermoons, a phenomenon whereby the moon appears particularly large in the sky owing to the coincidence of its closest approach to the earth (the perigee) with a full (or new) moon.
