A mild start to February but turning cooler in the coming week

Ireland enjoyed overnight temperatures that would make an April day blush with the mercury level reaching 11c at Shannon Airport in County Clare.

The West and Southwest of Ireland recorded the highest readings at midnight. The coming week will turn cooler generally.

Some frosty nights can be expected in sheltered inland locations with daytime temperatures hovering around between 7c and 11c, mildest in the west.
