1905: Valentia, County Kerry, reported Ireland’s record Mean Sea Level Pressure (hPa) at 1051.9 hPa.

1917: Ireland faces another day of subzero temperatures and extensive snow cover. 

1945: Daytime temperatures stay below freezing in Dublin. 

1974: Strong winds swept across the country downing trees and power lines and damaging buildings. A 161km/h gust was recorded at Malin Head.

2002: Winds gusting close to 160 km/h brought down power lines over a wide area from Galway to Donegal. The storm killed 7 people in Britain.
